Ingredients
3 pound package of short ribs
2 tablespoons of all purpose flour
2 tablespoons of oil
4 cloves chopped garlic
1 large, sliced onion
Water
Beef broth
Salt & black pepper
Seasoning mix (combine 1 cup salt, ¼ cup black pepper, ¼ cup garlic powder in a bowl)
Cooked rice
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Season ribs to taste with Seasoning mix
Lightly dust with flour
In a Dutch oven, heat oil
Add ½ of the onion & ½ of the garlic cloves and cook until lightly browned
Add the ribs and brown on each side
Add ½ water & ½ beef broth to cover the ribs
Bring to a boil
Remove ribs from Dutch oven and place in a casserole dish
Ingredients
2 lbs. Beef Stew Meat (1 1/2 inch cubes)
2tbsp Shortening
1tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 Garlic Clove
1 Medium Onion, Sliced
1 or 2 Bay Leaves
1tbsp Salt
1tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Paprika
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Dash Ground Allspice or Cloves
6 Carrots, Pared and quartered
4 Potatoes,
Pared and quartered
1 lb. Small White Onions
3 tbsp. All-Purpose Flour
2 Cups Hot Water
Directions
In Dutch Oven, thoroughly brown meat in hot shortening, turning often. Add 2 Cups hot water and next 9 ingredients after Shortening.
Cover, simmer for 1 and 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Remove bay leaves and garlic.
Add vegetables. Cover and cook 30 - 45 minutes, until vegetables are tender.
Slowly blend 1/3 cup cold water into 3 tbsp. flour. Slowly stir into hot mixture.
Cook and stir until bubbly, then 3 minutes longer.
Enjoy with biscuits or rolls on a cold winter day! Serves 6-8
